WHO IS THIS KING OF GLORY?

Subtitle: A Critical Study of the Christos – Messiah Tradition

Author: Alvin Boyd Kuhn

Reveals that much of Christianity did not originate in the Middle East. Shows how, where and why many Egyptian spiritual teachings were adopted into Christian form and accepted as “history.” Kuhn states, “The gospels are not and never were histories.

They are now proven to have been cryptic dramas of the spiritual evolution of humanity and of the history of the human soul in its earthly tabernacle of flesh.” For Christianity to be expressed in the way it was first intended, as experienced during the first two centuries of its existence, one must acknowledge its pagan roots.

The author reveals how things were altered in the third century by the existing Christian priesthood and why.

A Short History of the Bible

Author: Bronson C. Keeler

Reveals that the books composing the Bible were originally not considered inspired at all, and that this idea came later. It shows who first endorsed them in this way and why it was done. Keeler admits to having no religious agenda in writing this book, but instead holds a simple desire to uncover the truth. Great book on the origins of the Bible, highly recommended.

The Jefferson Bible

Author: Thomas Jefferson

Jefferson completed this book around 1820, at age 77. His aim was to reveal the most genuine teachings from the New Testament. He was trying to find the very essence of the Christian faith and to share it in its clearest form. When finished, it was bound together but never produced for distribution. After Jefferson passed away the book remained hidden within his family until it was purchased in 1895 for the National Museum, which became the Smithsonian Institution. Soon after, it was privately printed for Congressional members. Starting in 1905, each new Senator and Representative received a copy. One no longer needs to be a member of Congress in order to experience the beliefs of this brilliant third U.S. President.

Some Mistakes Moses

Author: Robert Ingersoll

Ingersoll was widely known as the greatest orator of his time and could soundly thrash any challenger in a debate – especially on religion.

Many religious beliefs have no logic in them and Ingersoll was a master at exposing the outright cruelty, stupidity and foolishness that religions force us to embrace. Covers the Old Testament, worshiped by Jews and Christians alike, which supports things like slavery, warfare, polygamy and the idea that women should be treated as property. For example he asks: If you find slavery upheld in a book said to have been written by God, what would you expect to find in a book inspired by the devil?

Also, why should God tell me how to raise my children when he chose to drown all of his in the flood? Presents two men being interviewed at the gates of heaven – an honest, loving family man and a despicable thieving businessman. Guess who gets into heaven based on their beliefs and who ends up in hell.

THE GODS: A LECTURE

The Gods: A Lecture

Author: Robert Ingersoll

Every culture has its gods. According to Ingersoll, we have failed to develop properly in moral and spiritual ways because the gods of man were made by man. They originally appeared within our flawed minds, and there- fore resemble their flawed creators. The Gods cannot “rescue” us when they, like us, are in a constant battle for recognition and supremacy, either among themselves or with the gods of other religions. Will challenge your critical thinking skills and your beliefs about the nature of deity. Insightful book worth exploring.
